8 of The Best Holiday Events in the Hendersonville Area (2019)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in the most beautiful area of the Carolinas!

Hendersonville is well known as a beautiful community in the summer and as our seasons change, but a season sometimes overlooked is the holiday season. We put together some of the area’s best events to fill up your calendar and the ones that are sure to put you and your family in the holiday mood!

Santa comes to town!

Just a day after celebrating Thanksgiving, downtown will be lit up as we patiently await Santa’s arrival. Live entertainment, hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa will begin at 5 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse on Main Street.

Enjoy a holiday scavenger hunt

While you’re on Main Street, head to the Visitor Center to pick up information on how Peppermint Bear will take you on a scavenger hunt that your entire family will enjoy. You’ll explore downtown Hendersonville looking for Peppermint Bear’s cubs.

The Hendersonville Christmas Parade

This is a must-see event as our neighbors line Main Street and spread holiday cheer for a traditional hometown Christmas Parade from Five Points to Caswell Street. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. on December 7, and are sponsored by the Hendersonville Merchants & Business Association.

Catch a holiday show

If outdoor weather keeps you from enjoying the parade and Santa’s visits downtown, then you need to visit Flat Rock Playhouse for “A Flat House Playhouse Christmas.” The show runs November 29 through December 22. Support downtown businesses

The Olde Fashioned Hendersonville Christmas is from 5-8 p.m. December 6. Visit downtown merchants to view festive window displays, listen to caroling, and enjoy refreshments.

A sweet tour of historic inns

This self-guided tour of historic inns throughout our area is from 1-4 p.m. December 8. Each location features cookies for those touring to enjoy. The cost is $20 per person, and tickets can be purchased at the Hendersonville Visitor Center.

Go “ice skating” without ice!

An iceless skating rink is set up at the Visitor Center on South Main Street. The surface is synthetic and is made from special polymers that do not require liquid. Skate rental also is included in admission. The rink is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, weather permitting, with special hours on the holidays. Call 828-513-0564 for more information.

Magical Main Street hayrides

Top off your holiday celebration in historic downtown Hendersonville with free hayrides offered from 5-8 p.m. December 20-22. Board the hayride at the Visitor Center to enjoy one of the last events of the holiday season.
