The Street Dances celebrates its 102nd anniversary! The Dance features Appalachian Fire playing mountain heritage bluegrass music and clogging on Monday July 27, August 10, 24 & September 14. Special appearances by area clogging teams make for an entertaining, foot stomping evening.
Appalachian Fire features traditional bluegrass and first-rate picking. The five-piece Hendersonville based band has been performing since 2005. Their song selections range from contemporary and classic bluegrass songs and gospel standards. They play such favorites as: “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”, “Salt Creek”. “I’ll Fly Away”, and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”. Occasionally the boys will break out a few rock and roll tunes and “grass them up” just for fun. They also perform a number of original tunes written by the band. Mix in some wholesome humor, and you’ve got a show that’s bound to delight.
The Mountain Thunder Cloggers will entertain the crowd with demonstrations of precision clogging, one of two forms of the dance performed in the U.S. Mountain Thunder Cloggers have performed at many regional fairs and festivals including the North Carolina Mountain State Fair, Farm City Day and the North Carolina Apple Festival.
Several modifications have been made this year to comply with state and federal health guidelines. To accommodate these mandates, the designated dance area in front of the stage will be used to distance the audience from the performers. Dancing will not be allowed for public safety.
In addition to you danging shoes, bring a chair to enjoy an evening filled with live music, dancing and entertainment from 7 – 9pm. The audience seating area opens after 5:30pm, and early admission is prohibited. Please leave your pets comfortably at home. Admission is free. No alcoholic beverages, backpacks or coolers allowed.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be postponed until 8pm. If the weather does not improve by 8pm the performance will be cancelled.
