Here Comes Santa Street Lighting Planned

Hendersonville officially kicks off the Christmas season on Nov. 29, the Friday after Thanksgiving, with it’s annual Here Comes Santa Street Lighting with the long-awaited arrival of Santa.

The town welcomes everyone on the Historic Courthouse Square at 5:00 pm to ring in the Christmas season with carols while warming themselves with cider and hot chocolate. As darkness falls, Santa appears at the courthouse to light the trees on the Courthouse Plaza and bring Main Street to life. Thousands of lights and dozens of displays along six blocks of Main Street, from Seventh Avenue to Barnwell Street, brighten Hendersonville in the glow of Christmas.

After Santa lights Main Street, he will greet children at the courthouse. After Friday nights start of the Christmas season, Santa will listen to the wishlists of toys at the Santa House until Christmas.

Carriage rides will return this year, weather permitting. The carriages bring the nostalgia of a turn of the century Christmas. Riding along Main Street creates lasting memories for the young and the young at heart.

Many of the Main Street merchants will be their holiday finest welcoming everyone to browse and find that one-of-a-kind gift. The downtown area has 70 unique merchants and galleries, and 25 restaurants, bakeries, and eateries along the six blocks of Main Street and adjoining streets.

Main Street is home to long-time favorites Mast General Store, Dancing Bear Toys, McCarter Gallery and Village Green Antique. A host of eateries from the coffee shops to the trendy but casual catering to everyone.

The Here Comes Santa Street Lighting runs from 5 – 8 pm on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 in downtown Hendersonville, N.C.
