For several years the the Firecracker Race has been the kick off event for the July Fourth Festival. Later in the day music, food, dancing, kid fun games, tours, crafts, art and much more fill the cool mountain air in one of the picturesque little towns in Western NC.

This year the race will start and finish on West Main Street at its intersection with Oaklawn. The loop race course will go from West Main Street in downtown Brevard to the lumberyard arts district and then down scenic Tinsley Road before returning to the lumberyard arts district and downtown Brevard. The race course has a modest 125 feet of elevation change and features a mix of residential streets, commercial business district and scenic pastures with views of the beautiful surrounding mountains. The fun run does a lap around a square block of historic homes on West Main Street and Probart Street. This is a family friendly event that helps kick off a family friendly street festival in downtown Brevard to celebrate our Independence Day.  For more information
