Tips for Tubing Down the Green River

Tubing on the Green River

Tubing on the Green River

One of the best ways to get an intimate look at the Green River and the Green River Cove is to take a tubing trip down the Green River. Floating down the river on an inner tube is a much slower pace than kayaking giving you more of a chance to enjoy the scenery that surrounds the Green River. There is no better way to spend a lazy afternoon than floating down the river surrounded by family and friends.

I had my own experience tubing down the Green River in the early 1980’s when I went with a church group. It had rained a lot that summer and the river was higher than normal but it was a great experience.

There are several outfits that offer a tubing trip down the Green River.  Green River Cove Tubing and Wilderness Cove Tubing are located I n Green River Cove and Silver Creek Tubing is located in Mill Spring. Green River Cove Tubing and Wilderness Cove Tubing offer tubing trips in lengths from 1 ½ miles to 6 miles and Silver Creek Tubing offers tubing trips on the lower Green River for a little bit of a different experience.

Green River Cove and Green River Cove Tubing and Wilderness Cove Tubing are located less than 12 miles from the Old Homeplace Cottages and Cabins. Turn left onto 176 East and follow it all the way through the town of Saluda for a little over five miles. Turn left on Ozone Drive. Stay on Ozone Drive for 1.3 miles and Green River Cove Road will be on the left. Green River Cove Road winds for over five miles down to the Green River where your day of tubing awaits.
