What to Look out for at Motorama

October is the perfect time of year for a stroll along Main Street. The air is crisp and comfortable. There are plenty of apple and pumpkin goodies at favorite haunts like McFarlen’s Bakery. And, the red, yellow, and orange leaves provide the perfect backdrop to our little slice of heaven in the mountains. If you were to grab a coffee and head to Main Street for a stroll this Saturday, you would be pleasantly surprised to see it transformed into a car show.

Motorama takes over Main Street Saturday, October 12th from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. The street will be lined with antique cars as well as new model vehicles from local dealerships. If you are in the market for a new car, this is the perfect opportunity to check out some of the 2020 models and connect with area dealerships. If you are interested in vintage vehicles, the Greater Smokey Mountain Region Antique Automobile Club of America will be in attendance with plenty of classic vehicles. Motorama is actually the longest running new car show in America, and it’s a free event is free, family friendly.

My family and I first discovered this event two years ago when we took a morning bike ride from our house up to Main Street. We were surprised and delighted that our morning on Main Street turned into taking in a car show. My son loved seeing the vintage vehicles and newer models alike, and we enjoyed speaking with representatives from local dealerships. Because this event is free and Main Street is a popular place to be, Motorama can get crowded. I suggest coming early to try to beat the crowds. I also suggest comfortable walking shoes as this event stretches from the Visitors Center to Mast General Store.
